At this point, Karl decided that we were all going to epic, and that he'd much rather spend the week down in the valley with his beautiful wife, Heidi. Wise man. We tried to separate the gear appropriately on the ledge so that Karl could take the excess with him, but we didn't really send him down with enough gear, and we paid for the extra weight the rest of the route.
